Sports Day 2018

Wow what a short but action packed sports day we had this year. Congratulations to Aqua for winning the day and well done to each team for such great team spirit. Even though the weather was challenging our community pulled together and made the day a great success.

Swimming Week

By Emma Hayden
In weeks six and seven, classes with year levels from Reception to Year Five spent two of their school lessons each day swimming at the Unley Swimming Pool for one week. The instructors taught orderly lessons to every class. We were taught about safety in the water and attempted to save the other people in our class in pretend rescues. We also learnt different kinds of strokes and how to put on a life jacket in and out of the water.
At the end of the week, the Year Threes, Fours and Fives tackled an underwater obstacle course and created a well working whirl pool, while the others had a water dance party. I enjoyed swimming week and hope that everyone else did as well.

Liam Introduces 11C to Makey Makey

‘What is energy?’
This term in science we are learning about energy. On Monday Liam came in and taught us about circuits with the Makey Makey sets. The Makey Makey sets are circuit boards that are powered by electricity through the computer. They can connect with online apps to play games or even play the piano. Some of us made bongo drums using aluminium foil, toilet paper rolls and
alligator clips. Others made game controllers using graphite and paper. We are also looking at conduction of electricity through a variety of materials. With Ms Murch we discussed the inquiry question ‘What is energy’. We watched clips about it and sat in groups to convey our ideas. We also brought up the topic of renewable and recycled energy. The class talked about what may happen when fossil fuels run out and different ways that we could solve the problem. Over the next few weeks we will produce our own pitch about the pros and cons of renewable energy.

3M and 6M Inquiry

Mr Hunt provokes some serious reflection about our significance in History!

Science in 11C

Ms Toole and Bec Anderson have been teaching students in 11C all about electrical circuits. Looks like fun…

MUSIC IS FUN

Music is fun! What a great time we had today singing and dancing along with the band. Ms Murch even knew two tunes, The Peppermint Twist and Sweet Child of Mine. Thank you Katie for organising such an engaging, interactive music session for us all.

Selecting Books for the Library

Rebecca, from Peggi Williams Bookshop, came to talk to students from year three to seven about new books and how to make good selections. Students then voted for the ones they wanted in the library. It is great to see such enthusiastic readers!
